Background and personality info:

Mitsukuni (called “Honey” by almost everyone) is the Host Club’s oldest member, despite his strong resemblance to a kid. It’s not just that he’s short, has a baby-face and a high-voice, but also the fact that he’s got a huge sweet tooth, loves cute things, and is generally adorable and cutesy all the time. He seems absolutely harmless and helpless, but he’s actually quite strong.

Honey is the heir to the Haninozuka family, a prestigious, martial arts family who trains most of Japan and other nations' elite guards, and as such, he’s been trained in martial arts since he was little. Because the Haninozuka style works well for small people (since most of the members of this family have small builds), Honey’s small frame wasn’t a problem for him. He became the school’s karate club captain in his first year of High-school, and because of his father’s advice, he tried to give a ‘manlier’ image. For this, he hid away his bunny Usa-chan, stopped eating sweets, and attempted to act tougher and cooler. It was obvious to the ones who knew him that he was having a hard time doing this, and some of the karate club members even said, knowing that Honey was listening, that Honey was a ‘demon captain’. He earned that nickname, even if those boys were just trying to be nice, and he was doing rather ok, until one day when Tamaki Suou, using a stuffed bunny toy which he used as a puppet, waved at him from behind one of the school buildings. Honey couldn’t help but follow the bunny, and found Tamaki, who asked him to join his ‘Host Club’. Tamaki believed that Honey’s natural charm and adorable looks would work perfectly for it, and in exchange, Honey would be able to have as many sweets and cakes as he wished, along with stuffed toys and other cutesy things, while being in the club. Honey, while obviously delighted with the idea, refused saying he didn’t like those things in an attempt to keep his cool facade. Tamaki then gives Honey a speech about how being honest to one’s true self is another form of strength, and because of this, Honey decides to join the Host Club and drop his act. He couldn’t commit to both, so he dropped out of the karate club, though he still trains at home.

Honey’s got a sort of rivalry relationship with his younger brother, Yasuchika, who despises everything that Honey loves, and who supposedly hates his brother for his cheerful attitude and the fact that he dropped out of the karate club. He considers this an offense to his family, and usually says Honey isn’t fit to become the Haninozuka heir. The two usually get into fights, which is apparently common for their family members, and the first time Haruhi meets this kid, we learn not only Honey’s story, but the reasons why his brother’s mad at him. Honey and Chika end up in a more serious duel, and despite Mori suspecting Honey’d let him win, he beats Chika in the end. He then praises his brother’s techniques, showing he doesn’t hold any grudge against him. Chika still promises he’ll beat his brother someday.

Apart from Chika, who appears later on in the story, the person Honey’s closest to is his cousin Takashi Morinozuka, who is a year younger despite being almost twice as tall as Honey. The Morinozuka family has served the Haninozuka’s for generations, and despite the master-servant relationship having broke two generations ago when the families became related to each other, Takashi (or “Mori”, as almost everyone but Honey calls him) is still constantly protecting and watching over Honey, whether it’s letting him ride on his shoulders or making sure he brushes his teeth properly. The two of them usually work together in the Host Club, Honey being the “Lolishota” type and Mori the “wild” type (mostly because he acts according to his instincts). They put up a sort of ‘act’ where Honey is sickeningly cute, and often helpless, and Mori is overprotective, and make their guests squeal and fangirl them. Even if they exaggerate it for the guests, whenever they’re not in the club, they act pretty much the same. Takashi doesn’t seem to mind Honey’s childishness, and usually goes along with his games, which is rather amusing to watch since Mori is almost always silent and with the same serious look. While he usually attends to Honey’s wishes, Mori can be strict with him as well, as shown when Honey gets a cavity and Mori asks Tamaki to ban sweets in the club. Honey ends up getting mad with Takashi when he makes sure he doesn’t get any sweets and scolds him for taking out his anger and frustration on others, but when he later learns Takashi was just trying to get Honey to hate him because he blamed himself for Honey’s cavity, he runs to hug him and apologises to him.

Honey is described by the author as “so insanely cute and charming that it's almost a crime”. He’s small, blond, has huge eyes, a baby-face, and a cutesy, high-voice typical of small kids. Despite being the oldest Host Club member, he acts as the youngest, carrying around a pink stuffed bunny he calls “Usa-chan” and whom he usually talks to. He’s cheerful, easy-going, carefree and easily amused and distracted, loving sweets, cute things and toys as much as any little kid could. He can usually eat a whole cake (or more!) by himself, which is why Mori makes sure Honey brushes his teeth regularly, otherwise he’d be toothless already. His speech is shown with flowers around it, and Chika once says he’s surrounded by flowers whenever Honey’s around, which may mean that Honey actually is somehow making flowers pop up from nowhere. It more likely means he’s just got a really sickeningly cute way of behaving, and that the flowers are just a metaphor.
Honey’s friendly towards everyone, both the Hosts and the guests at the club, and calls everyone by nicknames (Tamaki is “Tama-chan”, Haruhi is “Haru-chan”, etc), except for Mori, whom he calls “Takashi”. Likewise, everyone calls him Honey except for some students, Takashi, and his brother. It doesn’t seem to bother anyone, even though “-chan” shows a lot of familiarity and is rarely used on boys, probably because no one can bear to disappoint him or make him upset.
The only time we see Honey being really pissed off is in an omake, where Tamaki and the twins spill tea onto Usa-chan while Honey’s asleep. Knowing the rumors that Honey wakes up in a horrible mood (and that Honey’s blood type is the same as Kyouya’s!), they get scared and try to fix it, replacing Usa-chan with Tamaki’s bear Kuma-chan. Honey wakes up, sees the bear and throws it to the floor angrily, quickly finding his real stuffed toy. When he sees the stain on him, he turns around and asks for the culprit, and while we can’t see his expression, all the Hosts are scared shitless. It’s only Mori who manages to calm Honey down, saying Usa-chan wanted to have some tea. From then on, the Hosts learn that Honey does indeed wake up in a bad mood, and probably will try to avoid him when he’s waking up.

Honey lacks any magical power (although he’s rumored to be an alien and to be using Usa-chan as a communicator with outer space), but his martial arts skills would remain intact in Empyrean. He’d only be less strong than usual. He’d arrive after around volume 8, because that’s as far as my scans get |D;;
